Tom And Jerry Movies A Blast From A Generation Gone By
Were you a fan of the Tom and Jerry short cartoon for kids? If you were then you’ll be glad to now that all of the popular Tom and Jerry Movies have been digitally re-mastered and made into DVD box sets for everyone to enjoy. Anyone growing up as a child through the 50’s, 60’s or 70’s will remember with a smile on their face the crazy antics of this cat and mouse duo, as they endlessly inflicted hilarious amounts of pain on each other. Unfortunately the last Tom and Jerry movies have stopped being made; a remembrance film was created by one of the original creators and a number of other directors then released in theaters in 2006. A brief history of Tom and Jerry
Tom and Jerry movies originated from the artistic ability and story telling genius of William Hanna and Joseph Barbera back in 1940’s for the MGM studios; they continued to write and direct the adventures of the cat and mouse duo up until 1957. William and Joseph made a total of 114 episodes, before the job was taken over by Gene Distch a visiting creative director from the Czech Republic who had a slightly more outwardly creative style probably influenced by the popular culture of the 1960’s. Genes talent was considered a little eccentric for kids cartoons, so he was replaced by the now well known Chuck Jones.
In all of the time that this great cartoon for kids has been on the air or shown in the movie theaters it has won total of 7 Oscars for best animated shorts. Unfortunately William Hannah has passed away, but a final Tom and Jerry film was co-created by partner Joseph Barbara and aired in Los Angeles on September 27th, 2005 in an attempt to revive the Tom and Jerry cartoon series and in remembrance of its late creator.
You’re favorite and mine
If you were still a kid back in the 70’s and early 80’s then you’ll probably have your own personal favorites in terms of episodes, though the days of having to wait around each day for the cartoons to switch on are over. As far as cartoons for kids go this Tom and Jerry DVD would make the perfect gift for any child, or if you’re an enthusiast of the animated series and want to introduce your kids to the antics of these characters then why not introduce them through a DVD set of your favorite episodes.
