Jumpax Acoustical Underlayment Installed in Bacon Street Lofts, Burlington, Vermont
Sound Seal, a leading manufacturer of commercial and architectural acoustic noise control products announced that the Bacon Street Lofts a new apartment building in Burlington, Vermont, is using the Jumpax Underlayment System as the preferred underlayment within the 32,000 sq. ft. building.
Bacon Street Lofts of Burlington, offer four different unit types, Studios, 1-Bedroom +Den, 2-Bedroom and Super 2-Bedroom. Within the Lofts, sound transmission was a concern between floors.
The Bacon Street Lofts consists of timber frame construction that required an acoustical underlayment to reduce the transfer of structure-borne noise from one floor to another.
The Lofts had timber subfloors. With timber subfloors, intense floor preparation is often required. All seams and screw heads in the wood subfloor need to be patched and sanded smooth. It is important that the underlayment is a seamless solid substrate to glue a vinyl plank floor to. The floor preparation to accomplish this can often be as time consuming as the installation of the finished floor itself. With the amount of floor preparation and the need for The Bacon Street Lofts to reduce structure-borne noise between floors, Jumpax, a product that addresses both concerns, was chosen as the underlayment to make the noise between floors less noticeable. With apartment building being “pet friendly” this was a plus.
A local merchant, Korey Santor, the owner of Floor Coverings International of Burlington Vermont, had this to say about the way the floor underlayment, Jumpax, would help reduce the structure – borne noise between the floors in the new development.

Sound Seal worked closely with Floor Coverings International to make the underlayment installation at Bacon Street Lofts as uneventful as possible. The outcome was time saved in the floor preparation and the structure – borne noise between the floors reduced.
